Vietnam’s First Mobile Barbershop Launches To Support The Poor & Disadvantaged

Vietnam’s first mobile barbershop has hit the streets of Ho Chi Minh City.

The custom-made fully air-conditioned two-seater barbershop is the brainchild of the owners of Bar Dy Barbershop.

The popular brand has five barbershops across the city and was established in 2010, while their mobile barbershop fitted to the back of an Isuzu QKR 270 light truck is their first.

The idea behind the mobile barbershop came about as a way to support Vietnam’s poor and disadvantaged communities in remote areas, not only in Ho Chi Minh City, but in other cities and provinces across the country.

There are plans afoot for the barbershop to hit the road and go on-tour as soon as possible with its first destination being Dalat in Vietnam’s central highlands, approximately 300km northeast of Ho Chi Minh City.

Following that, there are plans to hit Vung Tau, Nha Trang and perhaps even as far as Danang in central Vietnam, 850km north of Bar Dy Barbershop’s headquarters in District 12.

Haircuts will be free for people who can’t afford to pay for the professional services offered by Bar Dy, while those who can afford them will be asked to support Bar Dy Barbershop’s initiative by donation.

Inside the mobile barbershop, there’s enough space for two clients and two barbers to work comfortably.

The space is light and airy and equipped with just about everything you would expect inside a regular barbershop.
