Laguna Phuket, Asia’s premier travel destination and home of the award-winning Laguna Phuket Triathlon (LPT), is thrilled to be welcoming back its 28th edition of the internationally-acclaimed event to take place on Sunday, 20th November 2022.
Dubbed as “The Race of Legends”, the Laguna Phuket Triathlon and Asia’s longest-standing triathlon race is finally back after its two year hiatus due to the pandemic.
The race features a unique race distance of a 1.8km swim, 50km bike and 12km run through the spectacular tropical scenery of Asia’s premier resort Laguna Phuket and local communities in the northern part of Phuket Island.
The 28th Laguna Phuket Triathlon (LPT) will be held across the famous Laguna Phuket destination race course, making it an accessible race for many.
Participants will enjoy the unique swim taking in both the Andaman Sea and fresh water lagoon, while being treated to a challenging yet scenic bike course ride through the Phuket countryside and local villages, including a climax of overcoming the imposing Naithon hills.
With a scenic run course that takes in the entire Laguna Phuket destination, the competition boasts a nice-sized race in a beautiful setting for seasoned racers or recreational groups alike.
With a long-standing reputation of being Southeast Asia’s longest running and most successful triathlon event and a feature in the top 10 list of The World’s Greatest Tri Swims by 220 Triathlon Magazine (UK) in 2020, the Laguna Phuket Triathlon has also been ranked 5th on the 10 Best Triathlons in the World list, by Let’s Do This (UK).
Over the past 28 years, the race has attracted thousands of elite athletes as well as triathlon legends such as Imogen Simmonds, Belinda Granger and Jan Frodeno on its shores where it boasts its scenery, clean air, and ample nature for all to enjoy.
“Triathlons represent more of a competition with one’s self, to challenge how far we can go, the elevation we can overcome and the pace we can maintain,” said Michael Raelert, two times Iron Man 70.3 World Champion.
“The heightened energy will kick off from the early hours of the day as we start the race and will overflow from the tracks to the crowds and beyond – it’s an experience I always look forward to and one that is special with the stunning route that the Laguna Phuket has to offer.”
With slots quickly filling up, applicants are advised to sign up for each race designation as soon as possible.
Activities include full Individual and Team Triathlon, Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon.
For the ultimate event experience, participants are encouraged to book their stay at any of the 7 hotels in the Laguna Phuket group which are available at a special rate with the use of code “LTP2022” when booking.
Participants may choose their choice of accommodation with ease, as all eight hotels in the Laguna Phuket group are within walking distance and a short ride on the free shuttle buses or boats to the Laguna Grove race venue.
