Sailing Club Resort Mui Ne has long been a getaway for strung out Saigoners needing an escape from the city, not to mention international travellers alike craving a taste of tropical beach life Vietnam style with a slice of luxury.
In fact, this year, the resort, which is located in the charming fishing village and holiday strip of Mui Ne approximately 215km east of Ho Chi Minh City, will be celebrating 20 years in the business of chilling us out.
It really is easy to see during a stay here why the property has remained a favourite for this long with its service quality, location and chilled beach vibes.
There are six accommodation options to choose from depending on your needs, including a batch of 29.5sqm rooms in the Sapa House building that offer a tasteful combination of privacy and minimalism with garden views, to a whopping 200+sqm four-bedroom double-story Family Villa for up to eight adults.

There’s also a couple of stunning 47sqm Ocean View Bungalows that look right out of a glossy travel brochure just steps from the beach and so near the water that the incoming tide goes close to licking the pavers of the path leading to the front door.
Meanwhile, there’s a clutch of equally gorgeous bungalows tucked away behind that are close enough to the beach so you can leave your digs without your flip-slops on (thongs for we Aussies) and not scorch your feet on the ground.
I stayed in the Superior Garden View Bungalow which included a Queen-size bed with a semi-open air bathroom for showering under the stars (and with the geckos) and a terrace lounge out front with a tranquil garden view that I found ideal for chilling on after a long sun-kissed day in the water and right before happy hour drinks at the bar by the beach.
From the bungalow, there’s a series of interconnecting pathways that lead me through the lush tropical grounds – which I must say, have been kept immaculate during the two years of the pandemic – to the swimming pool and restaurant less than 100 metres away in one direction, and to the spa in the other.
And just steps from the main building housing the restaurant and bar is Mui Ne’s famous white sandy beach and (for now) turquoise waters, perfect for those early morning swims when conditions are calm before breakfast, or for a brave crack at kitesurfing in the afternoon when the wind kicks up, naturally, of course, with the help of Sailing Club’s cheery instructors on-hand at its very own kite school.
As you can probably imagine, there’s a little bit of something here for everyone, including the kids and the kids at heart.
