Bettane+Desseauve Vietnam set to go with sustainable flow next wine event at Mandala Wellness

After two massively-successful events already this year, Le Club Bettane+Desseauve’s regular rendezvous for food and wine lovers in Ho Chi Minh City is set to get more le vin flowing again on Friday Nov. 20 – this time at holistic health mecca Mandala Wellness in District 2.

While previous events have focused on French wine varietals at The Hive Villa on Bastille Day, followed by a rather mondo vino affair at traditional Vietnamese dining destination Hoa Tuc in the historic Refinery precinct that showcased more than 20 sauvignon and cabernet wines from around the world and thoughtfully paired with some of the best Vietnamese cuisine in town, this time the organisers are casting a discernible eye over sustainable wines.

According to Alexandra Rendall who represents Bettane+Desseauve in Vietnam, this month’s theme is a highly-relevant one given the impact the broader activity of agriculture, which includes viticulture, has on the environment and our health.

“In the vineyards, as in the wineries, and even in its packaging, a lot can be done to lessen the negative environmental and health impacts of wine production,” she says. “Organic and bio-dynamic wines that follow strict guidelines include forbidding the use of chemicals in vineyards and they allow a more natural cycle in their production which leads to much healthier and better fruit and is ultimately better for everyone.”

To that end, expect more than 20 carefully-selected sustainable wines to be plonked in ice buckets at this next event, including drops from Australia, Austria and many regions of France.

Names representing this time round and no doubt familiar to wine geeks include the Australian range of Paxton Organic and Biodynamic wines, while Marrenon and Stephane Ogier of France will be lapping the insides of glasses along with Ampelidae and Theirry Germain, two leaders in the sustainable wine movement in the Loire Valley.

Also, tipples such as Alain Chabanon of the French Languedoc region and Austrian icon Fred Lohmer will be up for quaffing (responsibly of course).

“Better fruit naturally improves a wine’s expression and depth,” says Rendall, “and in addition to using recyclable and sustainable products for packaging to help lessen the carbon footprint and save the planet, they’re all great reasons to drink sustainable wine!”

Guests at the event will be delighted to know that this fine selection of wines will be accompanied by food prepared by Feuro – Modern European Cuisine, along with fresh vegetables from KameMart, mozzarella from award-winning local brand 4Ps, and plenty of deliciousness from La Boulangerie Francaise.

All this will be enjoyed in the most charming atmosphere on location at Mandala Wellness in the centre of Thao Dien in District 2.

“Madala Wellness is known for its quality holistic offer as a safe haven for those looking to lead a healthier and more balanced lifestyle,” explains Rendall. “It offers a perfectly-suited setting under the roof of a colonial-style villa to enjoy our sustainable wines in the heart of Thao Dien.”

Wine importers ATC wine cellar, RADA Vietnam, Red Apron, SAS and WINECELLAR.vn will be pouring the good stuff during the evening with their representatives on-hand offering special event rates for any orders taken on the night.
