Sunrise Events Viet Nam announces registration open for TECHCOMBANK IRONMAN 70.3 Vietnam 2021

Sunrise Events Viet Nam has announced that registration opened for the sixth edition of the TECHCOMBANK IRONMAN 70.3 Viet Nam on Oct.14, 2020.

For the third consecutive year, Techcombank will serve as title sponsor for the event.

“Techcombank and Sunrise Events Viet Nam share a mutual interest in helping athletes achieve their personal goals and pushing their boundaries while bringing an outlet for health and happiness. We are looking forward to joining together again for this world-class event,” says Mr. Onslo Carrington, general manager, Sunrise Events Viet Nam.

Both Techcombank and Sunrise Events Viet Nam would like to acknowledge that this event would not be possible without the tremendous support from the Government of Da Nang, their sponsors and partners, media, the Da Nang community and, of course, the amazing athletes that register for the event.

Athletes can enter TECHCOMBANK IRONMAN 70.3 Viet Nam 2021 individually or as a relay team of two to three individuals. There is also an exciting opportunity to take part in the event with your colleagues through the Corporate Challenge.

To date, the event already has over 1,500 participants registered between individuals and relay teams who were automatically deferred from the 2020 edition.

This year’s event also offers 40 participants the opportunity to go on to compete in the 2021 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship which will be held in St. George, Utah, USA, on Sep.17-18, 2021.

“This event allows participants to break through their pre-conceived mental and physical boundaries. Each day they train they are improving themselves and their today’s self is better than the prior day” says Thai Minh Diem Tu, Chief Marketing Officer, Techcombank.

“It’s incredibly inspiring to see the perseverance and spirit of the participants ,” she says. “It’s also satisfying to see the number of participants, especially Vietnamese, embracing this sport and challenging themselves to ‘Be Greater.’”

The sixth edition of the event will once again be hosted in the stunning city of Da Nang, which has emerged as one of the most dynamic and progressive cities in Viet Nam.

With numerous tourist attractions in and surrounding the city (including three nearby UNESCO World Heritage Sites – Hoi An Ancient Town, Complex of Hue Monuments, My Son Sanctuary), pristine beaches, and diverse culinary culture, Da Nang remains a top destination for both international and domestic tourism.

The New York Times has named Da Nang as one of the best 52 places to visit in 2019 and the “Miami of Viet Nam” is also one of the twenty cleanest cities in the world and the most livable city in Vietnam.

The TECHCOMBANK IRONMAN 70.3 Viet Nam race weekend provides a major economic boost to the central region each year. The 2021 event will be no different, as the organising committee looks forward to promoting the local economy as well as highlighting Viet Nam as a premier sport tourism destination.

“We are incredibly proud to continue our partnership with IRONMAN in Vietnam especially after the success of the 2019 TECHCOMBANK IRONMAN 70.3 Asia Pacific Championnship in Da Nang,” shares Khanh Duy Do Huynh (KD), the race director.

From a single event in 2015, the IRONMAN 70.3 race has expanded into a multi-day, multi-sport festival, bringing together athletes of all ages from around the world.

The number of local competitors has grown from nearly 50 Vietnamese athletes in the inaugural 70.3 event in 2015 to over 1,000 in the 2019 edition and over 2,200 total participants from over 60 countries with the inclusion of IRONKIDS, Sunrise Sprint Triathlon and the Newborns Vietnam Run.
