A hugely successful inaugural edition of Bettane+Desseauve Asia’s Le Club Vietnam, a monthly rendezvous for food and wine lovers in Ho Chi Minh City, was held on Bastille Day in the city’s upmarket Thao Dien neighbourhood at The Hive Villa.
The event, aptly named Delicious France, was held on France’s national day, and showcased some of the best of France’s terroir, including Mas Bruguiere Pic Saint Lopu and Stephane Ogier’s Le Temps est Venu, among a number of other exciting drops supplied by local distributors ATC Wine Merchant, The Warehouse and Red Apron, among others – all enjoyed, of course, in Riedel wine glasses.
According to Alexandra Rendall, Bettane+Desseauve’s Vietnam representative and organiser of the event, close to 100 people attended and got to enjoy some of the best French wines available in this region.
The idea behind the monthly events is to provide wine lovers of all persuasions the opportunity to meet and mingle over a selection of wines representing the richness and diversity of wine from all over the world, although on this occasion, it was only French varieties up for tasting.
Bettane+Desseauve is a duo of world-renown French wine critics who publish the annual Guide des Vins de France and organise Le Club events, like Delicious France, throughout the world.
Currently, these popular events are held in Hong Kong and Beijing, and now Ho Chi Minh City.
Planning for next month’s event is already underway and will be held on Aug. 27, celebrating sauvignon and cabernet wines from around the world.
