Celebrated British Bartist (artist/mixologist) Richie Fawcett from The Studio Saigon is teaming up with Russian violinist Sima to create a unique and exclusive live performance at the 5th Irrawaddy Literary Festival in Mandalay, Myanmar.
Marrying the powers of art and music, Richie will draw a series of seven original black and white pen-and-ink line illustrations called “Memories of Mandalay”, designed to capture the magic of historical Myanmar.

These live illustrations will be drawn to the sounds of Russian Violin Virtuoso, Sima, accompanied by specially arranged background rhythms.
In a first-of-its kind live fusion of artist and musician, Richie and Sima’s masterclass showcase is exclusive to the Irrawaddy Literary Festival and will be performed daily over the event’s three days on Nov. 9, 10 and 11.
The show will be filmed live and projected on screens throughout the Mercure Mandalay Hill Resort.
This exhibition aims to break new ground in showcasing the creative talents of artist and musician by tapping into the audience’s sensory disciplines of both mediums, as the sketches are created in harmony to the music accompaniment.
As they are completed, the sketches will then be made available for silent auction, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Irrawaddy Literary Festival charitable trust.

Fawcett is also bringing a collection of his limited-edition pieces from The Studio Saigon, Vietnam.
The works will be available for private view and purchase on request. Of these, the most notable are his renowned cityscapes and images from Ho Chi Minh City and Angkor Wat.
