Sometimes more is just better.
At least at this year’s Saigon Gin Festival anyway.
There will be more gin brands, more gin cocktails, more mixologists and more entertainment.
And, according to the head of events at Cartel, the Saigon-based events and communications company that’s behind the Saigon Gin Festival, Cha Cha Abatayo, there will be more people, too:
“We’re building on the success of last year where around 300 people attended and it was the first time ever a gin festival of its kind was held in Saigon. This year we’re expecting up to 500 gin enthusiasts and others just keen on learning more to attend.”
Indeed, there’s no doubt this year’s festival will be bigger and better.
The event has been moved to the iconic Caravelle Saigon in order to cater for the expected increase in the number of gin lovers planning to attend.
Last year’s Saigon Gin Festival featured just six gin brands, this year that number has risen to 14, reflecting the emergence in popularity of gin in Saigon’s maturing cocktail bar scene, so expect to sample tipples from all your favourite brands and more, including from Vietnam’s first craft gin distillery, Song Cai.
You’ll also get the opportunity to down cocktails specially concocted for the festival by 28 mixologists from Saigon’s leading bars, including the likes of seasoned mixing pros such as World Class Ambassador, Lam Duc An, the recent winner of the World Class Bartender Series Vietnam, Dinh Thep, and the uber-cool Tien Duc from Ryu, just to name a few.
At Festival’s end, the best gin cocktail of 2019 will be awarded based on the number of sales of that drink throughout the event.
And for anyone interested in honing their mixology skills or learning more about the products on show, there will be masterclasses running throughout the fest.
Tickets cost VND750,000 each, which include tastings, two complimentary cocktails, two complimentary food items, a tasting glass, tote bag, event booklet and the opportunity to join masterclasses and to talk to distillers and bar professionals.
This one is not to be missed.
