4 Rau is a barbershop inspired by the 1920s and 1930s American culture and has two shops just a short distance from Pham Ngu Lau Street in Saigon’s rowdy backpacker neighbourhood.
4 Rau (rau means beard in Vietnamese) is extremely popular with the young hipsters of the city and is helped by the fact that it’s owned by a famous actor.
On Sundays at 4 Rau’s Dien Bien Phu Street location, expect to see the back wall lined with clients patiently waiting their turn in the chair.
A team of barbers work between 10am and 8pm daily, serving up cuts and styles for around VND60,000.
The staff are uber-friendly and take great pride in the styles they create, while the atmosphere and decor finds a happy medium somewhere between Barbershop Vu Tri, Brothers and Liem barbershops (other popular barbershops in Saigon) making it well worthwhile trusting them for your next clean up.
4 Rau now has a “deluxe” shop near Ben Thanh Market in District 1 with a pool table and drinks on offer.
UPDATE: As of July 2019, 4 Rau has a shop in Phu My Hung in District 7, HCMC
