Celebrated Saigon-based English “bartist” Richie Fawcett from The Studio Saigon is putting his pens to paper for charity this July as part of his ongoing Cloud 9 Project that sees him sketching the ever-changing skyline of his beloved city.
The month-long auction will kick off with a private event on July 3 at Caravelle Saigon’s Cafe de l’Opera, where Richie will create a unique live sketch performance that will pair with a few of his other passions – Glenrothes cocktails and tasty cuisine, accompanied by violin and guitar performances by renown artists.
This first-of-a-kind art showcase will break new ground in authentic creativity by tapping into guests’ senses of taste, hearing and seeing, all at the same time.

Richie’s passion for Vietnam’s history and culture has unlocked his artistic ambitions, which has now seen him draw over 750 landscape portraits of the country since relocating here in 2011.
Among his drawings is what he calls his “passion project”, a collection that has followed the redevelopment of Saigon, the inspiration for the name of his latest works – Cloud 9 Project – which features intricate drawings of nine buildings that have at some stage throughout the city’s history held the title of the tallest.

To mark this special occasion at Caravelle Saigon, Richie is offering up one of his original drawings for silent auction at the invitation-only event, while two more originals will be available to the general public for auction throughout July, which can be viewed and bid on at Cafe de l’Opera on the hotel’s ground floor over a sip or two of Richie’s signature cocktail creations.
All proceeds from the auctions will go to the Heartbeat Vietnam Children’s Charity.
