East West Brewing Co. needs little introduction, at least for anyone living in Vietnam. Since the first batch of their IPAs and pale ales flowed through the pipes for the very first time at their inner-city brewery (the only one of its kind in Vietnam) and hit kegerators nationwide a couple of years ago, EWB’s craft beer sits at the top echelon of locally-made brews flowing out of Saigon.

Already EWB has won a number of international awards for their beers, namely the Far East IPA and coffee vanilla porter. Their crisp and light-bodied wheat ale — Saigon Rose — is another favourite, attracting all kinds of beer drinkers for its ease of drinking. There are another five signature beers on-tap or by the bottle on offer, and depending on the time of year, a number of seasonal beers on rotation, with 10 planned for this year.

EWB is one of those “destination” places that should be on the itinerary of any discerning foodie visiting Saigon. It opens daily from 11am which makes it ideal for lunch or Sunday brunch.
There are also brewery tours for the keen beer aficionado who wants to talk hops, IBUs and tasting notes with the brewers. For those who don’t care what’s in their beer, they can sit at the bar or on the rooftop or even lounge around downstairs and talk about, well, normal things.
